My name is Kathleen and I am The Bugman’s Daughter. I am a girl who loves bugs, and wants to share this passion with others.I do this by providing one of a kind, unique and exciting presentations about insects, to different groups of people. I bring my live bug friends to schools, birthday parties, community events, and share some fun and interesting facts about bugs.I had the honor and privilege to be raised by the famous entomologist Don Carey. Most people know him as “The BugMan”!
My Dad worked for NDSU as an entomologist for almost fifty years. In the mid 70’s he started an outreach program teaching students about insects. He went all over ND and MN talking to all ages of students. His presentations were educational and fun! He could make a room full of kids watch in awe. He impressed them with his vast knowledge of bugs and fun joking personality. He was also known for his live creepy crawling critters that traveled with him. He had George the tarantula, hissing cockroaches, scorpions, millipedes and a variety of other little friends.
What he did was unlike any other educational presentation people had seen. When he spoke he knew how to keep the kids interested and entertained at the same time, all while teaching them everything you could know about insects, and how we interact with them in our daily lives. Forty years later teachers, students and people in the community are still talking about the amazing Bugman! This is where my story begins.
At a very young age I began accompanying and helping my Dad with his bug talks. I remember being about 7 years old watching him thinking “I want to do THAT someday!!” As I got older I continued to be fascinated by how remarkable and magical his presentations were. The way he interacted with the kids, the way he could make them laugh and the way he could scare them with his creepy creatures. Our next generation and community need and deserve to have the one of a kind Bugman talks!! I am ready and excited to bring this interactive, innovative experience back to our schools and our community!
I won't be able to completely replicate the talent and abilities of Don Carey The Bugman. I do have confidence that with all he has taught me I will do a great job at providing a similar and updated experience. I also have some fun new friends to add to the show! I am honored and thrilled to continue the edge of your seat, interactive, fun and legendary presentations that my Dad started so long ago. Reach out to me today so I can bring the excitement to your event!

C.A.A.R.E will be presenting information about providing for a pet parrot and other exotic birds. Attendees will learn about requirements, care and the basics to owning a parrot.
The Center for Avian Adoption, Rescue, and Education (CAARE) is an all-volunteer parrot shelter devoted to the welfare of companion parrots. In their shelter, there are two dedicated rooms for parrots awaiting adoption: One for larger parrots and one for smaller parrots. They have an Adoption Process in place for finding the adoptable parrots the best home possible.
They also educate the public about the proper care of exotic birds whenever anyone not familiar with owning and caring for parrots comes into the shelter. They offer Memberships, which helps them to continue their mission and also provide a discount on most items available in the Avian Warehouse.
